Deserter, who wanted to lure Ukrainian servicemen to temporarily occupied Kherson, will be tried under the SBI materials

The State Bureau of Investigation conducts systematic and thorough work to record war crimes. This work is the foundation of court charges against traitors and collaborators, as each of them will face inevitable punishment.

The SBI employees completed the pre-trial investigation against a former serviceman who, after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, wanted to lure Ukrainian servicemen to the temporarily occupied Kherson.

After the beginning of hostilities, the serviceman received weapons, ammunition and equipment, but instead of performing his official duties, he fled from Mykolaiv to Kherson, which was captured by russians. He also wanted to deceive other servicemen and lure them to Kherson under the guise that it was an order of the command.

Hiding in the temporarily occupied territory, the man actively propagated pro-russian views, supported the war against Ukraine and justified the crimes of russia against civilian Ukrainians. 

He is currently put on the wanted list.

The former Ukrainian serviceman is accused of justifying the armed aggression of russia against Ukraine, desertion with weapons, misappropriation of ammunition (Part 3 of Art. 436-2, Part 4 of Art. 408, Part 4 of Art. 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the articles provides for up to 15 years of imprisonment.

Procedural guidance is provided by the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Military and Defense Sphere of the Southern Region.
