Former law enforcer from Kharkiv region, who sold himself to the occupiers for "thirty silver pieces", will face trial
The SBI has completed a pre-trial investigation into a former law enforcement officer who, during the temporary occupation of Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region, was employed by the occupation police.
The indictment was sent to court.
In early June 2022, the occupation administration appointed the defendant as an inspector in the police station, and then as a duty officer.
During his shifts, he personally documented the detention of the local civilians who were brought to the station by the russian military. The man took fingerprints from the detained Ukrainians, after which the fate of the detainees was decided by the occupiers.
He received 45,000 russian rubles per month for working for the enemy.
After the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated Kupyansk district, the defendant wanted to escape with the occupiers to russia, but he failed to do so. He started hiding and was detained by the State Bureau of Investigation.
He is currently being held behind bars.
The former law enforcement officer is charged with high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment.
The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the proceedings.
Earlier, the SBI completed an investigation into another traitor from Kharkiv region. During the temporary occupation of Vovchansk, he actively helped the occupiers create a punitive body.
