The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a special investigation into a former law enforcer who helped the occupiers create a "people's police" in Vovchansk
SBI officers have completed a special pre-trial investigation into a former law enforcement officer from Vovchansk, Kharkiv region. During the temporary occupation, he helped the invaders create a punitive body - the so-called "people's police".
The indictment was sent to court.
It was established that the traitor voluntarily went over to the enemy and began to help the occupiers create the so-called "people's militia" in Vovchansk. For his efforts, he was promoted to the position of operative.
In his new position, he patrolled the streets and conducted searches of the local population. He was primarily interested in Ukrainian patriots and weapons kept by people.
During the liberation of the city, the defendant fled after the Russian troops.
The former law enforcement officer is charged with high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment.
The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural supervision.
Earlier, the SBI completed a pre-trial investigation against a senior district police officer of the occupation police in Kupiansk district, who was hiding in basements after the russians fled.
In total, since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, the SBI has been investigating 115 criminal proceedings against traitors and collaborators in Kharkiv region alone. Twenty-seven people have been detained. All of them are in custody.
