The State Bureau of Investigation is working diligently and effectively to prosecute former service members who broke their oath to the Ukrainian people, defected to the enemy and are now fighting against Ukraine. Treason will inevitably result in punishment for each of betrayers.

The Sviatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv found a former senior grenade launcher sailor guilty of treason under Part 1 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason) and sentenced him to 13 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that the sailor, after the capture of the military unit in Simferopol by the occupants in 2014, voluntarily swore allegiance to the aggressor.

He continued to serve in russia and returned to Ukraine together with the occupying troops during the full-scale invasion of Ukrainian territories.

The traitor was captured by Ukrainian Armed Forces at the end of August 2022 during military clash in Kherson region.

Procedural guidance was provided by the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the military and defense sphere of the Southern region.

The State Bureau of Investigation continues to carry out systematic work to identify traitors, including those who defected to the enemy back in 2014.
