Based on the SBI materials, a former law enforcer from Toretsk, who hid ammunition for the occupiers in his home, will be tried
SBI employees have completed a special pre-trial investigation into a former Ukrainian law enforcer who joined the so-called 'russian interior ministry' in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk.
The indictment was submitted to the court.
After the beginning of the russian invasion, the former law enforcement officer fled the Ukrainian-controlled territory to the temporarily occupied Berdiansk. The invaders appointed him to the position of traffic police inspector in the district department of Berdiansk.
Before leaving, he left weapons at his home in Toretsk, Donetsk region. According to intelligence, the arsenal was left for enemy sabotage groups.
In July 2022, SBI employees seized more than 700 rounds of ammunition of various calibres and explosive devices from his home.
The former law enforcement officer is charged with high treason committed under martial law (Article 111(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and illegal possession of weapons (Article 263(1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the articles provides for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the proceedings.
