The head of forestry will be put on trial, based on the SBI materials
The SBI has completed a pre-trial investigation into the director of Bereznehuvata Forestry in Mykolaiv region, who used his public authority to illegally hand out land to businessmen.
The indictment has been sent to court.
Instead of planting 120 hectares of forest land with trees, the director of the forestry leased the land to farmers for growing wheat and rapeseed for profit.
Due to the misuse of the land, the state suffered losses of over UAH 2.6 million.
The director of the forestry is accused of abuse of power that caused grave consequences (part 3 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for a sentence of 10 years' imprisonment.
A civil lawsuit was filed to compensate for the damage caused to the state and the suspect's property was seized.
The Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural supervision.
