Based on SBI materials, the court sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison a former law enforcement officer who betrayed Ukraine and took a management position from the occupiers in Lyman, Donetsk region.

After the capture of Lyman, the former law enforcement officer began to actively cooperate with the invaders, and when the so-called " deputy minister of the ministry of emergency situations of the donetsk people's republic" arrived in the city, the defendant personally asked when he could go on "duty".

In return for his loyalty, he was promoted to the position of "head of the supervisory activity group" of the so-called "fire and rescue unit" in Lyman.

After the city was liberated, the traitor fled with the occupiers and is now hiding in Donetsk.

On 13 June 2023, the Industrial District Court of Dnipro found the former law enforcement officer guilty of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The defendant was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

As the defendant's whereabouts are currently being established, he was subject to special court proceedings.

Procedural supervision was provided by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
