Based on the SBI materials, the court confiscated Yanukovych's assets worth tens of millions of hryvnias to the state budget
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the armed forces of the russian federation, the State Bureau of Investigation has been systematically taking necessary steps to expose traitors and collaborators. The Bureau traces their property, including that which is indirectly controlled through third parties, as well as confiscates assets for the state revenue.
The pre-trial investigation established that the fourth President of Ukraine in March 2010 received an instruction from the president of russia on the need to extend the stay of the black sea fleet of russia for 25 years. This posed a direct threat to the national security of Ukraine, but the decision was made.
Continuing the consistent work on implementation of the principle of inevitability of responsibility for committing crimes against the foundations of Ukraine's national security, as well as ensuring the actual compensation for the damage caused by traitors to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, the SBI submitted the materials of the criminal proceedings to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine for appealing to the High Anti-Corruption Court to confiscate assets of the fourth President of Ukraine and of persons on whom they are indirectly registered.
According to the decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court, this claim was satisfied and the sanction provided for in paragraph 1-1 of Part 1 of Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine "On Sanctions" was imposed.
In particular, the previously seized assets - more than UA 31 million hryvnias, US 85 thousand dollars, as well as 537 historical and cultural objects worth about EUR 19 million and real estate of the former President and persons close to them were recovered to the state budget.
After the decision enters into force, all assets will be transferred to the state revenue to contribute to its defense capability.
It should be reminded that earlier the SBI agents have already exposed a number of former high-ranking officials who facilitated the military plans of the aggressor state. They "took care" of increasing the number of personnel and military equipment of the occupiers. First, their "assistance" was used for the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol in 2014, and later - for the full-scale aggression of russia against Ukraine in February 2022.
The fugitive former president ensured the legalization of the treacherous agreement under Ukrainian law. On his instructions, a draft of the interstate agreement was prepared, then approved by the central executive authorities and endorsed at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. Later, the so-called "Kharkiv agreements" were ratified by the Verkhovna Rada and implemented.
The fourth President deliberately distributed roles to prepare the necessary documents and to create the appearance of legality of the relevant procedures. He involved almost all high-ranking government officials and MPs under his control in the "task".
This document signing, contrary to Ukraine's national interests, on the extension of the Black Sea Fleet's stay in Ukraine for another 25 years, as well as the establishment of the enemy's armed forces and military equipment in Crimea, created threats to our state's sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to the basic agreements of 1997, the russians were supposed to reduce their contingent on the peninsula. The "Kharkiv agreements" allowed the aggressors to have enough resources for the occupation of the peninsula in 2014 and for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
For committing this treason, the former President of Ukraine, Prime Minister, Ministers of Defense, Justice and Foreign Affairs have already been notified of suspicion and put on the wanted list, and the investigating judge has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention.
