The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a pre-trial investigation into the detained former employees of the Kherson pre-trial detention centre.

The indictments have been sent to court.

Two junior inspectors of the detention centre immediately supported the occupation regime and voluntarily went over to the enemy. They assisted the aggressor in creating a punitive body under the sign of the 'Kherson Oblast Penitentiary Service Department', which operated under the laws of the russian federation.

The traitors obeyed all of the occupier's orders until the day Kherson was liberated. It is known that they guarded inmates who were imprisoned by the occupier for their pro-Ukrainian position, including local activists, Anti-Terorist Operation participants, and regular Kherson residents who opposed the occupation.

After the city was liberated, the traitors tried to hide in the regional jail, but they were found and arrested. They are currently detained.

Furthermore, SBI officers served a notice of suspicion in absentia on a former senior inspector of the Northern Correctional Colony (No. 90). After the occupation of Kherson region, he "sold out" to the russians for the position of deputy head of the colony. Later, he was promoted and became the first deputy head of the Kherson detention centre. After the liberation of the city, the man fled and is currently hiding in the part of the region temporarily not controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.

He was in charge of the processes of illegal detention of Ukrainian citizens, including for their pro-Ukrainian position.

All the defendants are charged with high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The procedural control is carried out by the regional prosecutor's offices.

To recap, the SBI has previously detained the heads of these two facilities. In particular, at the end of November 2022, the acting head of the Kherson detention centre was exposed, and in February 2023, the head of the Northern Correctional Colony No. 90 was detained during stabilisation measures.

Since Kherson's liberation, the SBI has served dozensof suspicions to traitors and collaborators who went to work for the enemy. The majority of them escaped with the occupants, but this will not protect them from criminal prosecution.
