Based on the materials of the SBI, the case against the killers of journalist Vyacheslav Veremiy during the Revolution of Dignity was transferred to the court
The SBI employees under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General completed a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceeding against five so-called "titushkas" involved in the murder of journalist Vyacheslav Veremiy during the Revolution of Dignity.
The indictment has been sent to court.
The investigation found that on the night of February 18, 2014, at the intersection of Volodymyrska and Bolshaya Zhitomirskayastreets in Kyiv, the accused killed a journalist who posthumously became a Hero of Ukraine.
The same individuals are also suspected of attempting to kill other protesters, inflicting bodily harm on them, as well as stealing weapons and ammunition from the reserves of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the city of Kyiv.
A special pre-trial investigation (in absentia) was conducted against these five defendants by SBI, in connection with their hiding from the pre-trial investigation agency in the russian federation on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. Some of them, according to the investigation, participate in the aggression against Ukraine as part of illegal armed groups of the so-called "donetsk people's republic."
They are charged with committing criminal offenses under a several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in particular Article 115 (intentional murder).
Sanctions of articles provide punishments, including life imprisonment.
In addition, two "titushkas" from this criminal group for the above-mentioned episodes have previously received convictions and are serving sentences, four more people are currently being tried.
The State Bureau of Investigation continues systematic work to implement the principle of inevitability of punishment for crimes committed during the Revolution of Dignity.
