Flight to russia does not exonerate head of Kupyansk occupation police, case of treason referred to court
The SBI employees have completed a special pre-trial investigation of a former law enforcer from Kupiansk, who headed the investigative department of the occupiers' pseudo-law enforcement agency during the temporary occupation of the city.
The indictment has been submitted to the court.
According to the investigation, the woman sided with the enemy and actively helped to create a fake law enforcement agency. She also gave interviews to russian propaganda channels justifying the war against Ukraine.
After the liberation of Kupiansk, the woman fled with the occupiers.
The former law enforcement officer is accused of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The penalty under this article is life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the procedural supervision.
Earlier, the SBI served a notice of suspicion on one of the heads of the occupation police in Izyum.
The SBI reminds that a short-term benefit from collaborating with the enemy will turn into a shameful and long imprisonment. Every traitor, no matter where he hides, will not escape responsibility.
