Top 5 directions of the SBI work in 2022 (VIDEO)

1. Traitors and collaborators. The SBI opened more than 1160 cases of crimes against the foundations of national security under martial law. 119 criminal proceedings were sent to court. Persons are still being investigated for their possible involvement in treasonous crimes. MPs, former judges, officials, and law enforcement officers are among the suspects.

2. Identification of russian assets in Ukraine. As a result of the Bureau's work, the assets of the group of companies "Tatneft" were transferred to the Asset Recovery and Management Agency, the activities of the energy company VS Energy, which owns a number of regional power distribution companies, and the involvement of the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Alexander Babakov in its activities are being investigated. He is suspected of violating the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.

3. Embezzlement of the state budget. The SBI is investigating more than 360 cases of misuse of budget funds. As of early December, the losses to the state amounted to more than UAH 62 million. The courts seized the property of the defendants worth over UAH 5.6 million. Among the examples: the exposure of the former head of Ukrpatent, who "pocketed" UA 250 million hryvnias. Top managers of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection who embezzled UA 2 million hryvnias. The Federation of Trade Unions' Deputy Chairman, who facilitated the illegal alienation of trade union state property for UA 138 million hryvnias. We will continue to actively counteract the abuses of officials.

4. Maidan cases are one of the priorities of the SBI. Three former ministers of Yanukovych's time have been notified of suspicion of treason, 22 former officers of the special police unit "Berkut" and a former Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been exposed in committing treason with the assistance of russia, subversive activities against Ukraine and many other proceedings.

5. Counteracting crimes in the customs sector. As of early December 2022, the SBI investigated 519 such crimes. 147 persons were notified of suspicion, 110 indictments were sent to court.

The most high-profile cases: detection of a tax evasion scheme at the Odessa Customs, more than 130 containers were inspected, large batches of shoes, cars and an "abandoned" helicopter were found. The losses to the state amounted to over UAH 1.5 billion.

As a result of the Bureau's efforts, it was possible to increase customs payments to the country's main budget.

 

In 2023, the SBI will continue to make its significant contribution to strengthening the defense capability of our country. Only by working together can we defeat a powerful external and internal enemy.
