Regional deputy from "OPFL" party will be tried for illegal forestry land transfer (VIDEO)

The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a pre-trial investigation against a deputy of the banned in Ukraine party "OPFL" of the Mykolaiv Regional Council. He was working as a state forestry director and illegally distributed forestry land to his "entourage".

The indictment was sent to court.

It was found that the elected official illegally leased out more than 250 hectares of forest land of the Bashtanka Forestry State Enterprise. Entrepreneurs who received the land, instead of restoring the forest, sowed wheat on hundreds of hectares to make millions in profit.

The damage caused to the state interests amounted to over UAH 6 million.

The official is accused of abuse of office that caused grave consequences to the state interests protected by law (part 3 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

To ensure compensation for the damage caused to the state, the property of the accused was seized. In particular, three houses and three land plots worth UAH 6.1 million have been arrested.

The Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural supervision.
