The court granted permission to conduct an investigation in absentia against the former Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine under Yanukovych

Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation were granted permission to conduct a special pre-trial investigation against the former Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine in criminal proceedings for seizure of state power (Part 5 of Article 27 and Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Such a court decision entitles the prosecution to conduct a pre-trial investigation against the suspect in his absence.

The former Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine is suspected of aiding the former President of Ukraine in seizing state power. In 2010, he facilitated the entry into force of the Constitutional Court's decision to return the 1996 Constitution, which significantly increased the president's powers.

In particular, the former deputy organised the publication in the information bulletin "Official Gazette of Ukraine" of the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine of September 30, 2010, № 20-rp / 2010 and the text of the Constitution of Ukraine as amended in 1996.

Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the State Bureau of Investigation.
