Today's reality: since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the SBI has investigated almost a thousand criminal cases against military service evasion
During the full-scale invasion of russia, one of the main areas of work of the State Bureau of Investigation is countering military service evasion. Unfortunately, this phenomenon has become quite common. Among those, who evade military service, are local deputies, officials, and civic activists.
Since February 2022, the employees of the SBI have conducted pre-trial investigations in 991 criminal proceedings against military service evasion (Article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to the results of the investigations:
329 people were served notifications of suspicion,
286 indictments were sent to court.
119 people received a court verdict.

The SBI served a notification of suspicion to the former head of the Odesa Regional Territorial Recruiting Center and Social Support of fraudulently evading military service duties committed under martial law
The employees of the SBI exposed a scheme of fictitious military service by a deputy of the Dnipro Regional Council. All actions were focused on creating a positive image and receiving illegal payments from the state budget
The SBI with the support of the Security Service of Ukraine served another notification of suspicion to the current Deputy of the Vinnitsa regional council from «Opposition Platform - for Life» for evading service in different military units
The State Bureau of Investigation is conducting a pre-trial investigation in a criminal proceeding in which the facts of official negligence and facilitation of military service evasion in the Kyiv City Council were established. Former Deputy Mayor - Secretary of the Kyiv City Council was served notification of suspicion
The employees of the SBI submitted to the court an indictment on military service evasion by three deputies of the Kyiv City Council with the assistance of the Chief of Staff of the Kyiv City Military Administration and a military unit commander
