Collaborator, who was guarding Ukrainian prisoners during the occupation of Kherson, will be tried in court
The SBI has completed a pre-trial investigation against a resident of Kherson who, after the Russian invasion, worked for the occupiers and was guarding detained Ukrainian citizens with weapons.
After the occupation began, the Kherson resident gladly responded to the invaders' job announcement. He agreed to take the position of an inspector in the illegally created institution "Northern Correctional Colony No. 90", which operated under the laws of the russian federation.
The defendant got the job only because the "correctional facility" had a staff collapse, as many employees deliberately refused to work for the enemy.
The defendant guarded prisoners with weapons, including Ukrainian patriots who were imprisoned by the invaders for resisting the occupation. For his work, the man received a salary in rubles and was proud of his position.
After the liberation of Kherson, he was detained by the State Bureau of Investigation and is currently in custody.
He is accused of collaboration (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 15 years with confiscation of property.
The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the procedural supervision.
