Ex-customs officer, who took a leading position in the occupation administration of Kupiansk district, will stand trial

The SBI employees completed a pre-trial investigation against the former chief state inspector of the Kupiansk customs post of Kharkiv Customs, who voluntarily worked for the invaders during the temporary occupation.

The indictment was sent to court.

It was found that the occupation administration assigned the man to manage the housing and communal services in the Petropavlivka territorial community. He coordinated actions of the occupation authority during emergencies, was engaged in the destruction of the state symbols of Ukraine, which were replaced with russian ones. russian tricolors were hung at bus stops and other public places on his order.

After the liberation of Kupiansk district, the man tried to hide, but eventually was detained. A custody was chosen as a measure of restraint at the request of the State Bureau of Investigations. He is still imprisoned today.

The former customs officer is accused of collaboration (Part 5 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years.

Procedural supervision is carried out by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Earlier, the SBI sent to court proceedings against two foresters from Kharkiv region, who headed the occupation forestries in Balakliia and Vovchansk.
