Head of forestry, who defected to the occupiers, will stand trial in Kharkiv region
The State Bureau of Investigation continues to expose and bring to criminal responsibility traitors and collaborators who actively helped the occupiers to seize Ukrainian cities and villages or worked for them.
The SBI aegnts completed the pre-trial investigation against the chief forester of the State Enterprise "Vovchansk Forestry", who agreed to cooperate with the invaders during the temporary occupation of the city.
The indictment was sent to court.
The investigation established that he was in charge of harvesting wood, which was used for the construction of defensive fortifications and dugouts of the invaders. In addition, the offender recruited residents of Vovchansk and paid salaries in rubles.
After the successful offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the liberation of the village, the forester began to hide from justice. The SBI officers detained him in the de-occupied territory.
The former head of the forestry is charged with high treason (Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Procedural guidance is provided by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Earlier, the State Bureau of Investigation sent to court proceedings against a former Ukrainian law enforcement officer from Vovchansk, who worked as a chief of district police inspectors for the occupiers.
