The SBI completed an investigation into one of the prosecutors of Kyiv who embezzled millions of hryvnias

The SBI employees have completed the pre-trial investigation against the prosecutor of one of the Kyiv district prosecutor's offices. He embezzled millions of hryvnias seized during the investigation.

The indictment was sent to the court.

In August 2023, the prosecutor was supervising the criminal proceeding against a private enterprise. During the searches, he seized 4 million 242 thousand hryvnias in different currencies from the businessman.

However, instead of handing over the money for proper safekeeping, the prosecutor took it for himself.

After that, he stopped going to work and did not show up at the address indicated as his actual place of living.

The defendant is accused of abuse of office in the misappropriation of someone else's property on an especially large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The suspect has been fired from the prosecutor's office.

The sanction of the Article provides for imprisonment for up to 15 years.
