The State Bureau of Investigation continues to uncover and prosecute traitors and collaborators who "faithfully" served the occupiers.

The SBI investigators have completed a special pre-trial investigation into a former law enforcement officer who headed the so-called police station in the village of Shevchenkove during the occupation of the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region.

It was established that after the occupation of Kupiansk district by russian troops, the man wrote a request to the head of the occupation administration, in which he asked to be appointed as a police officer.

After signing a contract to work for the occupiers, he became a district inspector and later headed the occupation police station in Shevchenkiv. The law enforcement officer took away equipment from local residents and also turned over local anti-terrorist operation participants to the occupiers.

After the liberation of Kupiansk, he fled with the russians.

The former law enforcement officer is charged with collaboration (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

This article provides for a penalty of up to 15 years' imprisonment.

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office is supervising the case.

Earlier, the SBI completed an investigation into another traitor from Kupyansk, who had even given his wife's cafe to the occupiers.
