SBI officers have completed an investigation into two former Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) officers in Crimea who are currently carrying out aggressor cyberattacks on Ukrainian information systems.
The indictment was sent to court.
SBI investigators in cooperation with the SSU established that in 2014 the former SSU employees betrayed their oath of allegiance and defected to the enemy and joined the russian federal security service.
They had professional skills in counterintelligence protection in the field of information security of Ukraine and assisted enemy special services in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine.
The former law enforcers acted in close cooperation with members of the criminal hacker group "Armageddon". The criminals attacked computers and automated systems of central government agencies of Ukraine. Their actions led to the leakage, blocking of information, distortion of the data processing and violation of the established procedure for its distribution in the interests, all in the interests of the russian special services.
The former SSU officers are accused of high treason (under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and unauthorised interference with electronic computers and automated systems (Part 2 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
They may face up to 15 years in prison.
