Since the beginning of the year, the SBI has passed over UAH 4.7 billion worth of confiscated property to the ARMA (INFOGRAPHICS)
The State Bureau of Investigation conducts systematic work to combat corruption and abuse. In the course of investigating criminal proceedings, the SBI identifies and confiscates property obtained through criminal means and organises the transfer of such property to state ownership or management.
Based on the results of the SBI's work this year, in the first quarter of 2023, billions of hryvnias worth of confiscated property was transferred to the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA).
For comparison, in 2022, the SBI transferred property worth UAH 9.1 billion to the ARMA.
In the first quarter of 2023, the following assets were transferred to ARMA:
- AN-140 aircraft
- 5 apartments with a total area of over 500 sq. m,
- more than 20 hectares of land
- 60 cars,
- non-residential premises with a total area of more than 34 thousand square metres,
- 11 enterprises,
- 29 production complexes
- 207 real estate objects of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine.
The total value of all assets exceeds UAH 4.7 billion.
A significant portion of these funds is the property of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, which was illegally distributed to private owners at various times.
As of today, the courts have determined the value of only 8 objects seized from the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine in criminal proceedings, and it is over UAH 4.5 billion. After proper examinations and court decisions, the value of the transferred property will increase significantly and may reach hundreds of billions of hryvnias.
