The SBI exposed Deputy Head of the Federal Presidential Administration on an attempt to give $150 thousand bribe for changing the measure of restraint (VIDEO)

The SBI agents, together with the General Prosecutor's Office, exposed the Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine on the preparation of a bribe to change the measure of restraint in the case of illegal alienation of property worth more than UAH 138 million.

The official planned to transfer USD 150,000 through an intermediary to change a non-custodial measure of restraint.

In December last year, SBI officers served a notice of suspicion on the Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine.

Together with the Security Service of Ukraine, they documented that in 2019 he, together with other officials, made a decision to illegally transfer the building of a state-owned spa resort in Kiev to a private company. According to a forensic expert report, the total value of the building was UAH 138 million 308 thousand. The clinic, which was not subject to any alienation, was sold at a much lower price.

The official was charged with embezzlement of property, abuse of office by a public official, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, on a particularly large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In December, the court of first instance imposed a pre-trial detention order on the official, with an alternative bail of UAH 124 million, and also suspended him from his position as Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine for a period of two months. This decision was repeatedly extended.

The case is being prosecuted by the General Prosecutor's Office.
