The SBI and the Council of Europe Office held a discussion on investigation of crimes against humanity
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation and representatives of the Council of Europe Office talked about the challenges that law enforcers face when investigating crimes against humanity.
During the online meeting "Gender equality in law enforcement agencies during the war. Challenges and Prospects" the challenges of investigating crimes committed by the russian occupiers against Ukrainian citizens on sexual grounds were discussed.
Also during the session, the lecturer of the Council of Europe Office Tetiana Fuley drew attention to the existing barriers in the society's perception of gender issues.
The SBI and Council of Europe representatives emphasized the importance of continuing systematic work to implement the goals and objectives of the National Action Plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace and Security", as well as the need to harmonize national legislation in accordance with international standards, in particularly, taking into account Ukraine's ratification of the Istanbul Convention.
The SBI representatives also expressed their gratitude to the Council of Europe Office for close cooperation and support.
