The SBI continues to thoroughly document the aggressor's сrimes against civilians: Chernihiv Region is next in the line - Oleksii Sukhachov
The Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, Oleksii Sukhachov, informed that the Bureau continues to document russian army crimes against civilians in Ukraine. After Irpin and Trostyanets, Bureau employees began to document the atrocities committed by russian military in villages of the Chernihiv region.
The village of Yagidne, where the occupiers for a long time forcibly held in the basement and tortured over 350 residents is one of them.
"We will identify all the Inhumans who tortured our people. There will be a fair judicial punishment for the criminals", - stressed the Director of the SBI.
In his words, since the middle of May, the investigators of the Regional Department of the SBI located in the city of Kyiv, in cooperation with the prosecutors of the Chernihiv Region Prosecutor's Office, commenced investigative and procedural actions into the facts of numerous violations of laws and customs of war by the service members of the armed forces of russian federation.
"What we have already seen is unimaginable. Only barbarians and rascists can abuse civilians this way," Oleksii Sukhachov emphasised.
He reminded that in the village of Yahydne in March 2022, the rascists held about 350 villagers in inhuman conditions in the elementary school basement. For a month, the basement of 150 square meters was used to keep elderly people, children, newborns, and people had to sleep standing up. As a result of the tortures, abuses and lack of appropriate living conditions - nearly ten elderly people died.
"I was struck by the children’s pictures on the basement walls, who recalled their peaceful life. We will bring peace back to Ukraine! And those who abused our children will bear severe responsibility", the Director of the Bureau said, adding that he would do everything possible and impossible to achieve it.
During the documenting, the SBI also carries out the fixation and establishment of the circumstances of the shooting of civilians by the russian military, destruction of property, and looting.
The work is ongoing.
