The State Bureau of Investigations continues to bring Kherson collaborators to justice: nearly four dozen traitors have been exposed
After the liberation of Kherson, the State Bureau of Investigation has already issued dozens of notices of suspicion to traitors and collaborators who defected to the enemy. Most of them fled with the occupiers, but that will not give them the opportunity to avoid criminal liability.
Over the past five months, 39 traitors have been served with a notice of suspicion. Among them are 23 employees of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine, including the head of PI 90, the acting head and deputy head of the Kherson pre-trial detention centre, 8 law enforcement officers, 2 tax officers, the deputy mayor of Kherson and others. Indictments in 16 criminal proceedings of this category were submitted to the court as part of a special pre-trial investigation.
SBI officers are currently wrapping up a pre-trial investigation into high treason against five employees of the Northern Correctional Colony (No. 90) and one inspector of the Kherson Pre-trial Detention Centre.
The indictments have been sent to court.
After the capture of the regional centre, the guards betrayed their oath and voluntarily agreed to work for the enemy. The occupier gave them senior positions in the 'Department of the Penitentiary Service for Kherson Region', which became part of the 'Federal Penitentiary Service'.
The defendants carried out the enemy's orders and ensured the operation of the occupiers' punitive penal facility - they imprisoned Kherson patriots, persuaded prisoners to obey, and agitated for cooperation with the invader.
After Kherson was liberated, the former law enforcers fled with the russian military and are hiding in the temporarily occupied left-bank part of Kherson region.
They are accused of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the proceedings.
