The State Bureau of Investigation continues to identify and seize assets of russian oligarchs and companies in Ukraine. This was announced by Oleksii Sukhachov, Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, at a meeting with Ylva Johansson, European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs, during her visit to Kyiv at the end of last week.

According to him, this has been an important area of work for the SBI since the war began, because in the times of military aggression, russian business activities in Ukraine pose a threat to the national security of the state. The Bureau's Director stressed that this work is carried out in close cooperation with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Ministry of Justice. SBI employees have already checked more than 270 business entities in various sectors of the economy (financial and credit, construction, transport, fuel and energy, nuclear, agriculture, metallurgy, chemical, medical, etc.) As a result, practically all the assets of russian oligarchs in Ukraine have been identified.

"The State Bureau of Investigation has already sent relevant letters to Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council regarding the need to consider the issue of compulsory seizure of property in respect of 15 legal entities and 6 individuals," said Oleksii Sukhachov, director of the State Bureau of Investigation. "In some cases, the High Anti-Corruption Court has already ruled to recover for the benefit of the state the assets and property of russian oligarchs Rotenberg brothers, Oleg Deripaska, Yevgeny Giner, and others."

In addition, as part of the investigation of criminal proceedings, the Bureau has already transferred to the ARMA over UAH 882 million in shares in the authorised capital of enterprises, UAH 290.1 million, USD 4.7 million, 204 real estate objects, over 1.5 thousand railway cars, 13 ships and much more.

During the meeting, Oleksii Sukhachov also expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guest for the systematic support provided by the European Union in building the SBI's institutional and human resources capacity, as well as for the assistance provided to ensure the effective functioning of the SBI under martial law.

He informed Ms Ylva about the peculiarities of the SBI's activities under martial law and the participation of SBI employees in countering Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Oleksii Sukhachov emphasised the importance of cooperation with the European Police Office (Europol) and outlined the horizons for the development of cooperation between the SBI and Europol.

The parties discussed the results of cooperation between the SBI and European institutions in previous years, in particular within the framework of international technical assistance projects, and agreed to further develop this work.
