The SBI reported suspicion of official negligence to former head of Polissya Customs Department of the State Customs Service

The SBI employees served a notice of suspicion of official negligence to the former head of the Polissya Customs Department of the State Customs Service. His actions led to the loss of confiscated food products worth UAH 2.2 million.

It was established that the official failed to ensure proper storage and sale of the seized, from a business entity, goods, in particular vitamin and mineral complexes. The products had a limited storage period and were spoilt.

At the same time, the customs officer was responsible for organizing the work of the customs warehouses and ensuring proper storage of material assets. He was also responsible for the storage and disposal of property seized in cases of violation of customs rules.

The offender is suspected of official negligence that caused grave consequences (Part 2 of Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He may face imprisonment for up to 5 years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
