The SBI served a notice of suspicion to the head of the storage facility where almost 8.5 tons of meat for the military went bad
The SBI employees served a notice of suspicion to the head of a food storage facility at a military unit in Ivano-Frankivsk region, whose negligence caused nearly 8.5 tons of beef worth more than UAH 1 million to spoil.
The meat, which was intended to be fed to the military, was placed in the freezer in November 2022, and in January it was discovered that it had spoiled because the temperature was much higher than the storage conditions.
The official was supposed to monitor the temperature and notice the malfunctioning of the equipment, but she failed to fulfill her duties properly.
The head of the food storage facility was served a notice of suspicion of negligence in military service (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to eight years.
During the pre-trial investigation, the damages were fully compensated.
The Ivano-Frankivsk Specialized Military and Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region is providing procedural supervision.
