The employees of the SBI, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine, served notification of suspicion to the "curator" of the russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, the People's Deputy of Ukraine of several convocations from the banned pro-russian party "The Opposition Bloc". He is suspected of high treason and inciting religious enmity and hatred.

As the investigation established, since the beginning of the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine in 2014, he has promoted russian narratives through interviews in the media, public speeches, as well as in posts on his own website and in social networks. The People's Deputy of Ukraine was trying to form anti-government and pro-russian sentiments in Ukrainian society, to justify russian aggression, etc.

Pro-russian People's Deputy of Ukraine, followed the instructions of the head of the russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch of the russian Orthodox Church kirill (gundyaev), for a long time was maintaining close communication with him and was in his hierarchical subordination, he was the so-called "curator" from the russian Orthodox Church and actually a representative of a religious organization of a foreign state in Ukraine.

At the same time, the People's Deputy of Ukraine, acting in support of the foreign policy of the aggressor country, systematically made public speeches with features of religious intolerance and hostility.

After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian army in Ukraine, he resigned and is currently hiding abroad. However, he continues to provide information influence aimed at harming the sovereignty of Ukraine, its state and information security, achieving military-political goals by the leadership of the russian federation in relation to Ukraine and assisting in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine in the information sphere.

The comprehensive forensic psychological and linguistic expertises that had been appointed by the investigator confirmed the facts of criminal activities of the People's Deputy of Ukraine in the interests of the russian federation.

He was served notification of suspicion in absentia of high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and violation of the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation and religious beliefs committed by an official (Part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The maximum punishment for committing these actions is imprisonment for up to fifteen years with or without confiscation of property.

The State Bureau of Investigation continues systematic work on the inevitability of criminal liability for the former senior state officials who contributed to the spread of pro-russian and anti-Ukrainian narratives in society in order to exalt the aggressor state by inciting national enmity and hatred, to humiliate the national honor and dignity of Ukrainians.
