SBI served a notice of suspicion to former prosecutor from Mykolaiv region who supported russia's armed aggression against Ukraine

15.08.2023

SBI employees served a notice of suspicion to a former prosecutor of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office who supported and justified russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.

It has been established that in March 2022, while holding the position of prosecutor of the district prosecutor's office, the woman wrote to her son, who was abroad, about her "vision" of the events taking place in Ukraine. In particular, she said that in Mariupol, the Azov militants were allegedly abusing the city's residents, and when the russian invaders entered the city, "the locals were ready to kiss their feet". The prosecutor also reported that there were many 'nazi scum' in the Defence Forces.

The mother convinced her son that it was the Ukrainian government that was to blame for the war, reproaching him for believing the Ukrainian media.
Despite her support for the aggressor's actions, the woman quit and fled from her "saviours" abroad.

The former prosecutor is suspected of justifying and denying russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, as well as recognising the lawful occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine (part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The woman faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The General Inspectorate of the Prosecutor General's Office is providing procedural guidance.
