SBI notifies former law enforcer of suspicion of torturing Ukrainians in Melitopol region to please occupiers

SBI employees, with the operational support of the Security Service of Ukraine, served a notice of suspicion to the former law enforcer. He continues to detain and torture pro-Ukrainian citizens in the Melitopol region that is temporarily occupied by the occupiers.

It was established that after the occupation of the territory of Melitopol district of Zaporizzhia region by the russian armed forces, the offender voluntarily joined the punitive body created by the invaders.

The suspect identified and continues to identify pro-Ukrainian local residents and illegally persecute them.

The facts of illegal entry of the suspect, together with representatives of the occupation forces, into the homes of civilians, unjustified detentions and abuse were established.

The traitor, in violation of international humanitarian law, threatened the detainees with firearms. He punched, kicked and hit civilians in the face, torso and legs with the butt of his assault rifle, threatening to kill them.

In addition, the perpetrators illegally placed civilians in torture chambers. The detainees were subjected to brutal torture, including physical and psychological pressure.

The defendant was served a notice of suspicion of collaboration and violation of the laws and customs of war in collusion with representatives of the aggressor state (Part 7 of Article 111-1, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the articles provides for a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.

Procedural guidance is provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
