The SBI is stepping up checks on unjustified assets from officials

08.07.2021

The State Bureau of Investigation is one of the first law enforcement agencies to launch a separate line to receive reports concerning unjustified assets of officials.

To improve cooperation with applicants in exposing such facts, the Bureau has set up a special application form on the website.

Dear citizens!

If you have information about illegally obtained property or that the value of the property purchased by the official is clearly understated, report it.

You can also fill in the form anonymously.

The SBI management keeps this issue under personal control, and all information received will be carefully checked.

The SBI actively identifies unjustified assets of officials. One such example is the materials submitted to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office regarding the unjustified assets of the Member of Parliament. In 2020 the MP bought an apartment in the city of Kyiv worth UAH 7,6 million.

In 2019 he declared only USD 4 thousand and in 2020 received income of UAH 4,8 million. He did not specify other sources of income and financial liabilities.

The difference between the declared income/assets and the price of the apartment is over UAH 2,7 million.

Unfortunately, there are many such cases, so we are waiting for your help.

We ask members of the public, the media and concerned persons, if there is information that the Bureau staff can use to identify unjustified assets and gather the necessary evidence, to contact the State Bureau of Investigation in one of the following ways:
• via electronic form on the official website of the State Bureau of Investigation;
• by phone +38 (044) 300 27 07 (section 4) on a special telephone line of the SBI: Monday – Thursday – from 09:00 to 18:00, Friday – from 09:00 to 16:45 (lunch break on these days – from 13:00 to 13:45); at other times (night time, weekends and holidays) – leave an application, statement or report information to the answering machine (processing of such information will take place the next working day);
• by sending information to the e-mail address: assets@dbr.gov.ua;
• by post to the address of the Bureau: 15 Symona Petliury str., Kyiv, 01032;
• in person at the reception of citizens of the central office of the State Bureau of Investigation at the address: 15 Symona Petliury str., Kyiv;
• leaving an appeal or message in a special mailbox in the premises of the central office of the SBI at the address: 15 Symona Petliury st., Kyiv.

We call for cooperation!
Let's overcome corruption together!

For reference: "assets" should be understood as money (cash, funds in bank accounts or in custody in banks or other financial institutions, etc.), other property, property rights, intangible assets, cryptocurrencies, the amount of reduction of financial liabilities, works or services provided to an official.

The value of the asset should be from UAH 1,003,500 to UAH 7,377,500 (up to UAH 6,831,500 in 2020, up to UAH 6,243,250 in 2019), and the asset itself should be acquired after November 28, 2019.
