The SBI transferred 26 regional gas distribution system operators to the National Agency of Ukraine for finding, tracing and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes (ARMA)
The State Bureau of Investigation continues systematic activities to protect national security and critical infrastructure security. Special attention is paid to preventing emergencies or disruptions in natural gas supply.
Upon motion of the SBI, investigating judge of the Pecherskyi District Court of the City of Kyiv has transferred seized private corporate rights of 26 regional and city operators of the gas distribution system to the National Agency of Ukraine for finding, tracing and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes (ARMA).
The state will control the natural gas supply to consumers from now on. This is a vital national security issue, especially under russian aggression.
In June last year, the State Bureau of Investigation exposed a large-scale scheme of free transfer of gas distribution systems to private operators by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.
The multi-year illegal activity caused damage to the state in a total amount of UAH 1.488 billion.
The pre-trial investigation is in progress.
Procedural guidance is provided by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
