The SBI continues blocking attempts by the drug mafia and russian special services to organize large-scale drug distribution schemes in Ukraine
The State Bureau of Investigations actively counteracts the attempts of drug mafia to organize sustainable schemes of supply and sale of narcotic drugs in different regions of Ukraine, including in the frontline areas.
Some opeartion indications of such organized groups point to russian special services attempting to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, particularly in frontline areas. The enemy is attempting to undermine Ukraine's defense capability through drug supply schemes. That is why since the beginning of the war, the SBI has been prioritizing combating drug-related crime.
In total, since February 2022, the SBI agents and the National Police have initiated pre-trial investigations in almost 400 criminal cases of trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors.
Underground laboratories for large-scale drug production were found by the agents of Bureau in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Chernivtsi and Uzhhorod.
As a result, the activities of 6 organized criminal groups were stopped, more than 50 people were detained. Over 3.3 tons of finished products worth over UAH 90 million were seized.
Thus, in Kharkiv region, the SBI seized one of the largest batches of drugs: more than 1.5 tons of opium poppy straw.
In August 2022, as a result of cooperation between the SBI and the National Police, dozens of facts of distribution of narcotic substances by criminals through the postal operator were revealed and about 15 kg of various types of drugs were seized.
In Dnipro, the SBI exposed a drug laboratory with a full cycle of methamphetamine production.
The SBI exposed and blocked a powerful interregional drug trafficking channel.
The SBI found another laboratory and seized goods worth USD 1 million from the drug syndicate.
