Austrian court will consider an extradition of the former general of the Security Service of Ukraine that was declared an international wanted list by the State Bureau of Investigation

The Regional Court of Korneuburg (Austria) will soon consider the issue of extradition to Ukraine the former head of the Main Directorate for Internal Security of the Security Service of Ukraine. The State Bureau of Investigation and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine are engaged in active dialogue with Austrian law enforcement agencies regarding the application of this legal mechanism.

The employees of the SBI have completed a pre-trial investigation into him under a number of articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

After serving a one-year prison sentence in Serbia for violating local law, the former official, according to Ukrainian law enforcements, moved to Austria in October 2025, which was reported to Austrian colleagues.

Due to close cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the documents required for extradition were promptly prepared and forwarded to the competent authorities of the Republic of Austria.

The SBI is awaiting for a fair decision from the Austrian court on the extradition of the former general, after which the Ukrainian court will consider the substantiated charges against him.
